Emily Furr was raised in Charleston, SC and later earned earned her BFA from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. During her undergrad career she specialized in the concentrations of painting and drawing. She has recently been awarded her Master of Fine Arts degree and is now continuing her work in painting and drawing as well as delving into mixed media involving textiles and found objects as well as looking into conceptual ideas about her own place in the world.
